Galileo, Munich

Into the Audimax on an empty stomach”. But with Galileo, which is composed of the initial letters of the words: Garching, Living, Learning and Office, a kind of “new center” will soon be created – in addition to culinary variety – a powerful meeting center in the basement of TUM Garching, cleverly designed by BRÜCKNERINNEN Interior Architecture.

Design

The color yellow transforms the once desolate basement into a vibrant place for meeting, exchange and hospitality. It stands for light, knowledge and wisdom, and has a warm, stimulating and attention-grabbing effect. Together with the name Galileo, the pioneer of scientific thinking who “brought light into the darkness”, a narrative is created that provides orientation, inspires and sets learners in motion.
The giraffe complements the concept as a likeable figurehead: it connects top and bottom, appears friendly and curious and runs through the spatial structure as a “yellow thread”. This creates a consistent story that invites students and companies to follow the path into the light. This creates a lively center that not only offers space, but also conveys identity and attitude: Open, inviting, inspiring.
